Friday Fun Picks -- Shoot em up!

Gonna make this brief, cuz I just finished Pscyonauts!!! And I want to get started on Shadows of the Collossus before it gets too late. What is more fun than a classic flying around shoot-em-up? Check out these three: Dynamite Car Plane Ignore the title, which makes no sense. This is a neat shoot em up where destroying an enemy makes a combo icon which you can then "juggle" into other enemies to destroy them. The bigger the combo, the more damage it will do. This may not make sense, but try it and you'll see. Definitely a neat idea that makes for a fun game. Drakojan Skies Nothing really super innovative here, but the game plays in Flash, making it a good work break candidate. And the things they have done with flash are impressive to behold! It's really lovely, with great music and simple controls. Desperate Space My fav this time out. This is just a really neat game. The controls are funky at first, using the right mouse button to skip around the screen and the left to shoot. But you'll get the hang of it, and once you do it is really awesome. Some other neat features are that you collect derelict space ships by passing over them (they attach to your ship by a tractor beam) and then give them to a big ship for rescue. All while zipping along, shooting the bad alien types and trying to not get your allies blown up. Unlockable and purchaseable ship upgrades also add to the fun. The most annoying thing about this game, however, is that the half hour demo loves to bug you to buy the full version. Sometimes in the middle of a dog fight. It's worth it to try it out though. Ok!
