Friiiiiiiiiiiiiday Fun picks -- games for sick people

I spent alot of last week pretty sick. Heck, I'm still coughing up globs of crud (I'm sure you wanted to know that). So there you are, sick and miserable. You want to play some games to distract you from your ickiness, but nothing too stressful that just compounds your flu-like symptoms. I found some great, time consuming, low key games that were just the ticket! Oasis I'd been meaning to play this for awhile. I read a review on Game Tunnel that advised to go ahead and plunk down the $19.95 for the game before even playing the demo. I would have to back them up on this. Such simple mechanics and yet such engrossing strategy! But nothing you have to really strain your brain to concentrate on for long periods of time. Each scenario only takes maybe 20 minutes, and then you get to start clean with a fresh challenge. Really fun, and I'm still playing it! (Once I was done being sick, I had to try the game on "hard". And it is.) Strange Adventures in Infinite Space This game reminds me somewhat of this old Star Trek game I used to play. You send your little ship to different planets, you can upgrade it, trade with alien species, and blow other aliens up! Everything is turn-based except for the combat, and each scenario takes maybe 10 - 15 minutes. Another very fun game that you can easily play all day long. Lemonade Tycoon I was dubious at first, and it took me a bit to get into it. But this lemonade selling game is deviously addicting. It took a bit of frustration before I figured out the perfect lemonade recipies, but once I did playing with different price points and advertising budgets was amazingly fun. This is also more or less turn-based, and once you get going it's just a matter of adjusting little things here or there and watching the moolah come in. Also an educational economic simulator, on a small scale. Stack Trace This game is oddly entrancing, and the game play is much like pick up sticks. I found it contemplative and mellow. Perfect while sipping your eucalyptus tea. Inanity How sick are you? If you are so stuffed up and dizzy that you can barely think straight, then inanity may just be the game for you. Drag the ball into the hole. Repeat. Repeat again. See how long you can keep it up before you pass out onto your keyboard. Keep your tissues at the ready and curl up with your tea and decongestants. Just keep telling yourself that it will go away eventually, then play games until it does. (Get plenty of sleep though). Get well soon!
